Rita Lira

The young Ukrainian choreographer Rita Lira, who hasbeen working with la briqueterie since the beginning of 2022, is taking part inthe Moving Borders project for two years (2023-2025).

Rita Lira, born in Ukraine in 1996, graduated from Boris Grinchenko University in Kyiv with a degree in contemporary choreography. Her aesthetic borrows from contemporary art and urban dance styles such as hip-hop, house, and popping. She is also interested in documentary art. She joined the G. Dance Theater team in Ukraine in 2017, with whom she worked for over two years. Under the direction of choreographer Maria Korosteleva, she takes part in dance clips such as G-effect, Phases.

Since 2019, Rita has been teaching contemporary and urban dance. She works as a choreographer and director at Splash Theater-Studio between 2019 and 2020 and as a teacher at My Way Dance Centre from 2021-2022.She is a member of the All-Ukrainian Association "Contemporary DancePlatform".

In 2022, forced to leave Ukraine, she was welcomed in residency and supported by la briqueterie CDCN of the Val-de-Marne. Thanks to the Ministry of Culture's PAUSE emergency reception scheme, she spent a year in residency at the Cité internationale des arts. La briqueterie and the Cité internationale des arts are working with her to create and present her shows The Way from/to and The Trap.

Rita Lira is currently taking part in the Hérodote educational program at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
